Gladioli Restaurant is turning 5

Well, it’s that time of year again, thinking and planning for Christmas, then, its New Year! Where does time go?

Our free transport offer has been very popular with groups coming out to Gladioli this November and December. We are offering complimentary return transport from Geelong for groups of 6 and above, which really allows for all guests to have a lovely time and enjoy a glass of wine without the stress of finding a driver. It’s not too late to take up this offer if you are still looking to plan your end of year work break up.

Gladioli was recently listed at number 24 in the ‘Delicious’ top 100 Victorian Restaurants. It’s wonderful recognition and we are very proud of the staff who work tirelessly to continually exceed the expectations of every guest. It’s very humbling to still be regarded so highly after 5 years. Yes, we are turning 5 in December this year! Time flies when you’re having fun!

While every week we continue to learn, we still believe we are improving. Our wine list and beverage offering is continually developing, strengthening in diversity and quality. The kitchen team are working hard to showcase the best of Spring’s amazing produce and are excited by the upcoming arrival of our new ceramic plates.

The Melbourne Food and Wine Festival’s World’s Longest Lunch tickets will start selling soon and we are pleased to be involved for our 3rd year.  Once again, guests will be treated to lunch, wine and live music in the stunning gardens at Gladioli. Jump onto …….to make your reservation.

If you haven’t been to Gladioli for a while, perhaps it’s time you came back? We look forward to welcoming you soon.

Spring has sprung @ Gladioli

What a long winter!! And it still feels like it’s going. We've had a busy few months at Gladioli with some wonderful offsite functions. We catered for the annual By Farr open day in June which is always a great fun day. Nick and Gary do such a wonderful job preparing some of Australia’s most recognizable wines and are especially good at showcasing site and vintage varietals. There are so many wonderful wines to try.

Last week both Gladioli and Tulip cooked at Anglicare’sDinner for the Angels at Docklands in Melbourne. It’s a pleasure to be involved with such a great charity who support children in need. It’s also a really fun night to catch up with other chefs from around the state.

We also regularly cater at Ocean Housein Lorne where we have done everything from product launches (X Box and Aesop) to weddings as well as intimate wedding proposals and birthdays. We also offer this at catering service at any other venue you may have in mind. Same fine quality service, food and tableware as you have come to expect from Gladioli, just served in your own special venue.

We are now in full swing planning the end of the coming year. Corporate and private Christmas parties are booking and our complimentary transport offer for groups of 4 and above on Fridays throughout November and December has been extended to include Saturday night and Sunday lunches due to popular demand.  we have some upcoming garden weddings which are always exciting. our garden space is stunning in the warmer months and has proven to be a wonderful spot for all types of special occasions.

We are also very proud to again be mentioned in Gourmet Traveller’s restaurant guide, receiving a star in the booklet. The kitchen is preparing and serving some wonderful food at the moment with the dry aged duck being a constant favorite.

Another new dish on the menu is the prawn tartare which is served wrapped in wild broccoli leaves and finished with a cold broth made from the prawn heads. It’s a stunning dish and will be great as the weather warms further.

Our drinks list is continuing to expand with the addition of some super smaller producers from around Australia as well as a real focus on developing our whisky offering. The wine team have put in a lot of effort to ensure we are covering a more diverse selection which in turn is providing some really pleasing wine paring options for our set menus. Exciting times ahead!!

New Year New Chef

New Year New Chef

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.

It's been a pretty hectic couple of weeks for the team at Gladioli Restaurant.

We had a full house (plus some) for our 6 course Christmas lunch and it was a lovely day. It's one of my favourite 'dining' days of the year, with everyone relaxed and there to have a good time. We tend to get a lot of repeat guests each year, which is fantastic.

We then traded as per normal through the new year period with the exception of New Years Day.

~

We are excited to announce a new 'Head Chef' for Gladioli Restaurant with the return of Tobin Kent.

Tobin previously worked with us when we opened Gladioli for about 14 months. He then spent the past 2.5 years working at the world class 'Brae' in Birregurra.

We are very excited about Tobin's return and looking forward to starting to see some of his influence on the food.

~

At Gladioli we are already into planning for 2016 events with the first being a Valentines Day menu. Bookings are available now by contacting the restaurant.

Our 2nd 'longest lunch' is also on sale now via www.melbournefoodandwine.com.au. Music will again be performed by the talented Julie Walter and it will hopefully be another sell out.

We hope to see you soon at Gladioli

Matt and the Gladioli Team.

Lessons in Life

Sport is a great subject to analyse for lessons in life.

I woke on Monday to the drama of the final day of play at the 2013 U.S. Masters. Tuning in just in time to view the last three holes of play, I was glued to the screen for the final hour.
